Hello to friends, family and others who've come across this web site. This is a "culture and fun" trip I've planned, driving across the US from Boston to Los Angeles over one month, avoiding Interstate highways as much as possible, so that I can see and appreciate more things along the way.

You can browse this website at three levels of detail, depending on your interest and time: (a) This home page gives a line or two on each day so you can quickly skim through the entire trip (b) If you click on a particular day's entry, you will get a new page with a set of pictures for that day (clicking on the thumbnail picture will display a larger picture) and the picture captions alone give a summarized version of my experiences for that day (c) finally, there is more detailed commentary and my personal impressions on each day after the photos. (Note that photos are 1 Megapixel, reduced from the original of 7 Megapixel for faster web viewing. If you want any of the hi-res originals, I can e-mail them to you--please send me an e-mail identifying the ones you want by day and number.)

Entries in black are those actually completed, and those in blue show my plan to date (subject to change, of course, based on my whim, weather, whatever ... that's part of the plan!).
